The Eternity of Time

But the pauses between the notes - ah,
that is where the art resides.
— Artur Schnabel

Inspired by the composer Olivier Messiaen’s relationship with time, I wanted to create a space within my images that reinvents the experience of silence in music and in the natural world. It is known that in music the measures of silence are not waiting periods. These pauses of sound can be found in photographs as well and they arouse in the viewer a state of active listening, much like a good conversation. Like Messiaen, I believe in the power of our imaginations to transform a vision and bring new depths and layers of perception into play.  My intent is to allow the viewer to fill my images with the "mind's colors" and to fully participate in the creation of a photographic memory.
